Drive is a 2011 film directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and stars Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan and Bryan Canston. When watching this film i felt that the film layer heavily dependant on the musical elements as there seemed to be noticeable little dialogue. This meant that especially during the beginning scenes of Ryan Goslings character as was very unaware of his personality. In both the book and film his character is only known as Driver so not only does the character not know his name but also rarely hear him speak has to reply heavily on what they are getting subconsciously told about him.
During the credits for Drive the song Night Call by Kavinsky is playing. This along with no absence sounds stops you from being drawn into the film and makes it seem as if you are watching over Ryan Gosling and not along side him. When comparing this track to the other songs on the soundtrack for drive they all have this steady rhythmic feel to them. I think that this can relate to the mechanics and continuous rhythm that of a car would make and in fact Ryan Goslings character as he is this man who seems to be specific and almost machine like himself.
